Exercise is the last think on the mind of most parents who have babies, while the babies themselves have little understanding of the concept of working out for the sole purposes of maintaining their bodies. Because of this, introducing the concept of baby exercise to most parents is met with as much derision as a suggestion that they start training their diapered infant in electronic circuit design or let her start day trading their stock portfolios. In their minds, their babies get plenty of exercise running around all day knocking over valuable trinkets and pulling the toilet paper off the roll. But regular aerobic exercise is a habit that's never too early to get into.
Aerobic exercise doesn't have to mean running on treadmills or doing push-ups. Parents are too tired to do these activities after chasing their babies around all day, and babies generally can't do them anyway. Aerobic exercise can be as simple as going for walks together though your Brooklin Homes neighborhood or spending an afternoon swimming with your baby in your local pool. Many community recreation facilities actually offer special baby-parent exercise classes in such disciplines as yoga, swimming, and gymnastics if you're not sure where to start.
It doesn't have to be as complicated as that, however. There's no need to sign up for classes outside the home if you don't want to. Exercising with your baby should be a release for you and the child, not a pressured activity lorded over by a harassed and overburdened parent. An Absolute condo agent who runs all over town all day may be in no mood to take her child out to the gym afterward and if she forces herself to do it anyway neither of them will have fun because the children pick up on the parent's negative emotions. In these cases it's much better to stay at home and play hide-and-go seek or do a few yoga moves.
Don't be held back by the age of your baby. It's true that children younger than toddlers probably won't be able to follow the instructions on an exercise DVD, even if it is Cookie Monster leading the group instead of Richard Simmons. But even infants who haven't yet learned to crawl can be introduced to exercise. You could take her for walks in a baby sling, stroller or baby backpack. The equipment doesn't have to be expensive, either. You can make your own baby sling out of an extra ladies sweater.
The mode of exercise doesn't much matter because when you're talking about babies it's more about the bonding experience and the formation of good habit that will stay with the child for life than muscle toning or endurance. So turn off your group collaboration software and go collaborate with your baby instead on creating healthy habits. The children don't much care what activity you choose, they just love spending time with their parents and will mimic any activity you do because they look up to you.
